When you consume a product, whether it be food, drink, medicine, nutritional supplement, or anything else that may be ingested or absorbed by your body, it's best to know what's in it. While just about every packaged product brandishes a full listing of its ingredients to the consumers, they often go unnoticed. What's worse, even if you read the list of ingredients, you may soon find yourself swimming in a sea of words with more syllables than the number of minutes you stayed awake in chemistry class.
Acesulfame potassium? No clue what that is, but it tastes GREAT.
Well, unlike a lot of manufacturers of diet colas, pharmaceuticals, and processed foods, we actually want you to know what is in our products. For months now, we have written about individual components of Veedverks products and explained the science behind them. Now, we'd like to tie it all together.
Cannabidiol, commonly abbreviated CBD, is our active ingredient. It is what interacts with your body's endocannabinoid system and may yield beneficial results in neurological function and pain relief. This is the "magic" often referred to in our testimonials. Veedverks uses pure CBD isolate from Colorado-grown industrial hemp. You can read up more on CBD here.
CBD is found in our cartridges, e-liquids, lotions, and obviously, our CBD isolate.
Terpenes (sometimes called terpinoids) are the flavor and scent molecules that are found throughout nature. If you've ever heard someone talk about essential oils or aromatherapy, they are talking about terpenes. Terpenes, when combined with CBD, can modify the effect of the CBD to a desired outcome. This is what is known as the Entourage Effect. Our mixtures of terpenes (our trade secret) mimic the effects of indica, sativa, and hybrid strains of cannabis, which is how we can take two otherwise equal mixtures of CBD and vape product and create one variety that helps you sleep and one that helps you wake up. They also are responsible for the smell in our products, just like they are in nature. You can read more about terpenes in this article.
Terpenes are added to our vape cartridges, e-liquids, and lotions to modify the effects of all three products.
Polyethylene glycol 400, often referred to as PEG, is the final ingredient used in our vape cartridges. PEG is common inactive ingredient used in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent, humectant (retains moisture), and lubricant. It is the "carrier" for many active ingredients in inhalants, topicals, and consumables in pharmaceuticals. That is exactly how we use it. The PEG keeps our CBD and terpenes from crystallizing and maintains a homogeneous mixture that can be dosed reliably by inhaling on the mouthpiece.
Likewise, propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin are the final ingredients in our e-liquids. These two compounds, like PEG, provide the vehicle to deliver consistent and homogeneous levels of CBD and terpenes. Commonly referred to as PG/VG, they are popular within vape culture, because they produce bigger, fuller clouds of vapor than PEG. While they can be mixed in various proportions from product to product, Veedverks e-liquid contains a standard 50/50 PG/VG mix.
The above ingredients are all that make up our CBD cartridges, e-liquids, and isolate. Amelia lotions contain CBD and terpenes (in the two scented varieties), but they also contain a number of other ingredients that comprise the lotion base.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to pour another cup of acesulfame potassium.
